PARENT MEMO 2: August 23, 2021

Dear St. Patrick Catholic School Families,
The first three days of school went very well. The faculty, staff and students are happy to be back at
school! We are excited to have limited volunteers back in the school. Please see below for the Diocese
of Raleigh requirements to volunteer in the school. Along with limited volunteers in the school, we are
also going to start the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) back up as well as the School Advisory Council
(SAC). If you are interested in being a part of either of these, please email me at
[email protected]

The PTO works in conjunction with the principal. The organization provides support to the parents and
faculty of the school on behalf of the students. They organize fun activities at the school that go
beyond fundraising. The focus is on bringing the school and families together.
The SAC can be representatives of the school, church, and community. They do not need to be parents
of students enrolled in the school. The council members function in an advisory capacity only on
matters brought up by the principal or pastor. The council provides advice and support to the
administration.

VOLUNTEERING AT ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS
We will be allowing limited volunteers in the school this year. If you want to volunteer at the school, you
must complete the volunteer application which includes attending a Safe Environment Training
(SET)class. There are a few online trainings this month. Please see below.
Safe Environment Training Calendar
In addition to attending the SET training, all volunteers need to complete an application with the
Diocese of Raleigh. You can turn your completed application into the front office.

FACEMASKS
Please send your child(ren) to school with at least 3 clean face coverings. Face masks should be cloth
however, the gaiter style face coverings are not to be worn at school.

Carpool is off to a great start. There are just a few reminders to help everyone stay safe. Refrain from
being on your cell phones during carpool. When using the carpool circle in the front of the school stay
to the right. Do not pass other cars. If children are getting in or out of the vehicle on the left side the
students should walk in front of their car to get to the sidewalk. Please do not call the office or come
into the office during dismissal time. Mrs. Mathieu is actively dismissing students during this time and
will not be able to help you until dismissal is over. If you need to come back into the school or office
after school, please wait outside in the breezeway. When dismissal is complete, the office staff will be
available to assist you at that time.
